What exactly does “the power of hypnosis” mean? Well, to obtain even the slightest grasp of its potential power, we first need a basic understanding of what hypnosis is and the part of the mind we gain access to in this process, the subconscious mind.
In this blog post, you’ll discover what makes hypnosis so powerful and how you can use it to transform yourself and others.
Let’s dive in.
What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is merely a word describing a process by which someone chooses to focus on an inner awareness.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: meditation and hypnosis are synonymous.
In the simplest of terms, they are both a choice of focus on inner awareness. This hypnotic/meditative state is accessed every day—multiple times a day—most often without any awareness we are doing it.
You have probably said, or maybe you’ve heard others say, things like “I lost track of time” or “I was zoned out” – those are states of inner focus. Have you ever found yourself daydreaming? That brief escape from reality can be relaxing, maybe even refreshing, right? Have you ever been so engrossed in what you were doing that you lost track of time?
If you answered yes to any of these, you were in a state of hypnosis, an altered state.
Without turning this article into a novel and to give you just a glimpse of what we cover here in our hypnosis courses at iNLP, this part of our mind is the focus of our attention (the subconscious) and is responsible for the vast majority of our experience existence.
What Makes Hypnosis So Powerful
The subconscious mind creates, holds, and acts out our belief systems. It is our imagination, motivation, emotions, talents, desires, habits, choices, and the hard drive of all our memories. It oversees and regulates our autonomic nervous system and our immune system, and quite literally is the lens through which you see and react to your reality.
In addition to all of this, it also knows exactly how to cope, heal, and process any experiences impacting us and has many resources to facilitate this process. Science has barely scratched the surface of the power of the subconscious mind and altered states despite their thousands of years of use and proven success.
So, the “power of hypnosis” means that hypnosis gives us access to the part of our mind that is the creator and holder of ALL that we are and ALL that we have access to on the deepest, most pure, and honest level.
Hypnosis allows us to tap into the incredible power of our mind and utilize its knowledge and healing abilities to overcome any negative experiences that hinder our quality of life.
The Power of Hypnosis for Personal Transformation
I am sure you’ve heard of the mind-body connection. Well, the tool of hypnosis is the foundation for finding that balance. If the mind can create it, the mind can heal it.
Imagine you once asked an incredibly skilled carpenter to build you a home. Regardless of his incredible skill, if you only gave him a hammer and a few nails, it wouldn’t be enough for him to use his skills and build you the home of your dreams.
However, suppose you provided him with an unlimited Home Depot credit card and a team of electricians, plumbers, framing experts, foundation experts, etc… In that case, he’d have all he needs to get the job done because he knows how to use every single one of those tools to construct the house.
In the same way, hypnosis provides you with the tools to make incredible shifts in your life, and with the help of your subconscious mind, you can effectively use this powerful tool to create lasting change.
How to Learn Hypnosis
The iNLP Hypnosis Practitioner course provides the tools to dive into the basics and the success of hypnosis sessions with clients. The Advanced Hypnosis course will take you to a new level of understanding, identifying, and connecting with the subconscious to help clients work through and shift some of their most profound belief systems.
Teaching your clients how to gain access to the power of their subconscious and the skills to facilitate their own shifts is empowering for them and provides so much growth for you as a practitioner and a human.
In the next Hypnotherapy course to be offered, Transpersonal Hypnotherapy (announcement date, to be released), students will dive deep into the spiritual aspects of hypnotherapy, akashic records, and universal laws and grow as practitioners and humans so we are the best version of us for ourselves and our clients.
