How to be more positive

How to Be More Positive by Hearing Your Inner Critic

Do you wish you knew how to be more positive? Do you wish you were a more positive person in general? Do you meet positive people and wonder why they aren’t more negative?

Inner negativity is a universal problem. Chronic negativity can smother the naturally positive person that you are, deep down.

The entire world is suffering from an imbalance of positivity vs. negativity. To free your inner positive nature and learn how to be more positive, you need to let go of the negativity that covers it up.

To understand how to let go of the negativity, let’s look at how negativity manifests.

In NLP, or Neuro linguistic Programming, we spend a lot of time listening for our inner voice to give us an indication of what we are feeling what we are feeling or experiencing what we are experiencing. Sometime the inner voice is positive, but most often, the inner voice is negative.

Most people experience a negative inner voice saying things like:

You’re an idiot.
You can’t do that!
You could have…
You should have…
That’s not good enough.
Look at everyone else. They don’t have problems like you.
You are ugly.
You don’t deserve.
You’re missing out.
You’re a loser.

I could go on, but you know what I mean. If you aren’t aware of such a voice, but still feel negative feelings regularly, then listen more closely. It is there, whispering away. You have probably just taken it for granted so it hasn’t dawned upon your consciousness yet. Learning how to be more positive requires you to really listen for this inner voice (thoughts).

Often this inner voice is someone else’s voice. It might be someone from the past who was critical of you. Either way, it’s not your fault. Who could be positive when they hearing negative messages about themselves all day?

Even my own negative voice says things like:

Who cares? It doesn’t matter – nothing matters. I don’t matter!

When I give this voice power, it is a free ticket to irresponsibility, lack of discipline, and feelings of low self-worth.

The goal at this point, once you can hear those voices, now you can do something about it because they are no longer in your subconscious. This is all part of learning how to be more positive.

How to Stop the Inner Negativity

Don’t resist. It’s counter-intuitive, I know. But, don’t resist it. Treat your inner critic, the dark side of your unconscious self – with respect. That’s the key. As soon you as begin to fight, it wins.

This is terribly corny, but it reminds me of Darth Vader enticing Luke to give in to his hatred and fight back. Don’t do it! Don’t resent yourself for resenting yourself. Don’t criticize your inner critic – that’s the inner critic’s game and it will win.

A much better option is explained in this 5-minute video below I made called Disarm your Inner Critic:
